Series Description
1 Peter | Alive in Hope: “Thriving Where We Are” is a journey through 1 Peter for people learning to live faithfully in the places and seasons God has given them. This book’s first audience was exiles, and our Living Hope…Jesus…gives us hope to thrive. Being rooted in Jesus' resurrection, we are more than survivors of hard circumstances. We are God’s people—being built together around Christ, shaped by His grace, and sent to make His goodness known where we are through ordinary faithfulness, deep love, humble service, and courageous hope.
Series Big Idea
Because Jesus is alive, His people can thrive where they are—growing together in hope, love, and on faithful mission with Him
Ways to think through this… Thriving Where We Are?
Holds together several central movements in 1 Peter:
-
Every season: The church can thrive in uncertainty, grief, stability, change, joy, or suffering because hope is alive through Jesus’ resurrection—not because circumstances are easy.
-
Every place: Peter writes to scattered believers, teaching them to live faithfully as God’s people wherever they are placed.
-
Every struggle: Trials can refine faith rather than merely interrupt it; they need not produce fear, passivity, or withdrawal.
-
A Forward Movement: “Thriving” says more than survival. It calls RLF not only to grow but also to thrive, living on mission through our love, witness, service, hospitality, courage, and humility.
-
A Shared People: You can gently connect the phrase to 1 Peter 2:4–10: Christ is the Living Stone, and as believers come to Him, they are being built together as living stones into a spiritual house for God’s purposes.
